Dr. Paul Krause, who strives to bring a well-rounded, holistic approach to his patients’ lives, leads better Back and Body. He attended Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1994. He began an Eastside chiropractic office the following year and has been practicing at his current Juanita Beach chiropractic office since 2008.

WHAT INSPIRED DR. KRAUSE?

Dr. Krause was in a head on collision and a rollover car accident before the age of 12.  He was unfortunately an unbelted passenger in both accidents.  In each of the accidents no one was severely injured and recovery seemed quick.  As a teenager, Dr. Krause suffered an injury to his lower back playing high school basketball.

He was referred to the only chiropractor in the small town in eastern Washington where he grew up and X-rays showed prior injury to Dr. Krause’s spine from the automobile accidents he was in as a child.  The chiropractor explained how the injuries from the automobile accidents never healed properly from not treating them and how that caused problems and spinal changes over the years.  Even though it appeared that everyone was okay from the automobile accidents, the chiropractor explained that the spinal changes were beginning to take their toll.  He outlined a treatment plan of chiropractic adjustments and after a series of adjustments the lower back pain settled down and Dr. Krause was back to his normal routine after a few weeks.  He has continued his chiropractic care being a regular chiropractic patient since the age of 17.

While in chiropractic school, Dr. Krause met and started treating alongside Dr. Vern Pierce. Dr. Pierce had developed a chiropractic adjusting style that resonated with Dr. Krause.  He began to use that technique while in student clinic with great success and continuted to refine the method over the past 25 years to obtain  exceptional results as a modern chiropractor in Kirkland.

Today, Dr. Krause cares for people of all ages with a variety of health conditions and enjoys teaching his patients and the public about health and wellness. When not in the office, Dr. Krause can often be found working on cars, traveling and spending time with his family. He lives in Kirkland, WA.

Spinal decompression therapy has become an increasingly popular option for those dealing with chronic back pain, herniated discs, and other spinal issues. Many people who struggle with persistent discomfort find relief through this targeted treatment. At Better Back & Body, we specialize in spinal decompression in the greater Kirkland, WA area. Here are four benefits of spinal decompression that make it a valuable option for many patients. Pain Relief One of the most immediate and noticeable benefits of spinal decompression is a reduction in pain. When pressure is taken off the spinal discs and nerves, pain that radiates through the back, neck, or limbs can often be significantly reduced. People suffering from conditions like sciatica or bulging discs often find relief through this treatment option. This therapy provides a non-invasive path to pain relief without relying heavily on medications. Improved Mobility Chronic spinal conditions can limit your range of motion, making it difficult to carry out daily activities like bending, walking, or lifting. By relieving pressure and improving spinal alignment, decompression therapy can help restore flexibility and mobility. Patients often find that they can move more freely and comfortably, which leads to a better quality of life. As mobility improves, so does the ability to stay active, which further supports long-term spine health. Reduced Dependence on Medication Many people with chronic back pain rely heavily on painkillers or anti-inflammatory medications. While these can offer temporary relief, they don’t address the root cause of the issue. Spinal decompression provides a way to manage pain without the ongoing use of medication. This is especially beneficial for those who want to avoid the potential side effects or risks associated with long-term drug use. It offers a natural, drug-free path to pain management and recovery. Avoidance of Surgery For some patients, spinal decompression offers a valuable alternative to surgery. Back surgery comes with risks, significant recovery time, and sometimes uncertain outcomes. Non-surgical spinal decompression, on the other hand, is a gentle and non-invasive approach that can offer substantial relief. Many patients experience significant improvement without the need to go under the knife, making it a preferable option for those seeking conservative treatment first. Athletes constantly push their bodies to the limit, and while training and conditioning are essential for peak performance, so is proper recovery and injury prevention. Chiropractic care offers a natural and effective way to support athletic performance by improving mobility, reducing pain, and enhancing overall body function. At Better Back and Body, we provide expert chiropractic care in the greater Kirkland, WA area. Here are four ways that chiropractic treatment benefits athletes. Enhances Joint Mobility and Flexibility Athletic performance relies heavily on joint mobility and flexibility. When joints are stiff or misaligned, movement becomes restricted, leading to inefficient biomechanics and a higher risk of injury. Chiropractic care involves spinal adjustments and other manual techniques to improve joint alignment, allowing for greater flexibility and range of motion. Speeds Up Injury Recovery Injuries are an inevitable part of sports, but chiropractic care can help accelerate the healing process. Misalignments in the spine or joints can lead to imbalances that delay recovery. Chiropractors focus on realigning the body and restoring proper nerve function, which enhances circulation and promotes faster tissue repair. Many athletes turn to chiropractic treatment after suffering from common sports injuries like sprains and strains, as it can help them get back to training more quickly. Reduces Pain Without Medication Athletes often deal with pain from overuse, impact, and repetitive motions. While painkillers can provide temporary relief, they don’t address the underlying issues and can lead to dependence. Chiropractic care offers a drug-free approach to pain management by treating the root cause of discomfort. Spinal adjustments and other chiropractic techniques help alleviate tension, reduce inflammation, and restore proper function to the affected areas. This natural pain relief allows athletes to continue training and competing without relying on medications. Helps Prevent Future Injuries One of the biggest advantages of chiropractic care for athletes is injury prevention. By keeping the body properly aligned and addressing minor issues before they become major problems, chiropractors help reduce the likelihood of injuries. Regular chiropractic adjustments can identify potential weaknesses or imbalances that could lead to strains, sprains, or other injuries. Back pain is a common issue that affects millions of people, often interfering with daily activities and overall quality of life. While some cases of back pain result from injuries or medical conditions, many instances can be prevented through proper lifestyle choices and habits. Taking proactive steps to support your spine and maintain good posture can go a long way in keeping back pain at bay. Maintain Good Posture Poor posture is one of the leading causes of back pain. Sitting or standing with a slouched position puts unnecessary strain on the spine, leading to discomfort over time. Whether you’re at a desk or driving, it’s important to keep your shoulders back, chest open, and spine aligned. Investing in an ergonomic chair and setting up your workstation properly can also help promote better posture and reduce the risk of back pain. Exercise Regularly Staying active is essential for maintaining a healthy back. Regular exercise strengthens the muscles that support the spine, improves flexibility, and enhances overall mobility. Activities like walking, swimming, and yoga can help prevent stiffness and reduce tension in the back. Lift Properly Improper lifting techniques can put excessive stress on the back, leading to strains or injuries. When lifting heavy objects, always bend at the knees and use your legs to push up rather than relying on your back. Keep the object close to your body and avoid twisting your torso while carrying it. If an item is too heavy, seek assistance rather than risking back strain. Maintain a Healthy Weight Excess weight, especially around the midsection, places additional pressure on the spine and can contribute to back pain. Maintaining a healthy weight through a balanced diet and regular exercise can help reduce strain on the back and improve overall spinal health. Get Quality Sleep The way you sleep can impact your back health. Using a supportive mattress and pillows that align your spine properly can help prevent discomfort. Establishing a consistent sleep routine and ensuring adequate rest also helps the body recover and reduces the likelihood of back pain. Chiropractor in Kirkland, WA Even if you take precautions, you might still develop back pain, in which case you’ll want to see an experienced chiropractor.
