Dr. Paul Krause, who strives to bring a well-rounded, holistic approach to his patients’ lives, leads better Back and Body. He attended Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1994. He began an Eastside chiropractic office the following year and has been practicing at his current Juanita Beach chiropractic office since 2008.

WHAT INSPIRED DR. KRAUSE?

Dr. Krause was in a head on collision and a rollover car accident before the age of 12.  He was unfortunately an unbelted passenger in both accidents.  In each of the accidents no one was severely injured and recovery seemed quick.  As a teenager, Dr. Krause suffered an injury to his lower back playing high school basketball.

He was referred to the only chiropractor in the small town in eastern Washington where he grew up and X-rays showed prior injury to Dr. Krause’s spine from the automobile accidents he was in as a child.  The chiropractor explained how the injuries from the automobile accidents never healed properly from not treating them and how that caused problems and spinal changes over the years.  Even though it appeared that everyone was okay from the automobile accidents, the chiropractor explained that the spinal changes were beginning to take their toll.  He outlined a treatment plan of chiropractic adjustments and after a series of adjustments the lower back pain settled down and Dr. Krause was back to his normal routine after a few weeks.  He has continued his chiropractic care being a regular chiropractic patient since the age of 17.

While in chiropractic school, Dr. Krause met and started treating alongside Dr. Vern Pierce. Dr. Pierce had developed a chiropractic adjusting style that resonated with Dr. Krause.  He began to use that technique while in student clinic with great success and continuted to refine the method over the past 25 years to obtain  exceptional results as a modern chiropractor in Kirkland.

Today, Dr. Krause cares for people of all ages with a variety of health conditions and enjoys teaching his patients and the public about health and wellness. When not in the office, Dr. Krause can often be found working on cars, traveling and spending time with his family. He lives in Kirkland, WA.

Neck pain is a common issue that can disrupt daily life, affecting everything from work to sleep. Fortunately, there are some simple ways to help keep your neck healthy and pain-free. But if you are experiencing persistent neck pain, then you could benefit from seeing an experienced chiropractor. At Better Back and Body, we provide expert chiropractic care in the greater Kirkland, WA area. Here are four tips to help you prevent neck pain. Maintain Good Posture Poor posture is a leading cause of neck pain, especially for those who spend long hours at a desk. Keep your head aligned over your shoulders and avoid slouching. Try to sit upright with your back supported, and if you work on a computer, position the screen at eye level to prevent your head from tilting forward. Practicing good posture will reduce strain on your neck muscles and spine. Take Frequent Breaks Sitting for extended periods can cause tension in your neck and shoulders. To relieve this, take breaks every 30 minutes to stand up, stretch, and move around. A quick neck stretch or gentle shoulder roll can release built-up tension. These regular breaks not only prevent neck pain, but can also improve circulation and energy levels throughout the day. Sleep in a Supportive Position The position you sleep in can significantly affect neck health. You may benefit from sleeping on your side with a pillow that supports the natural curve of your neck. You might also consider investing in an orthopedic pillow that provides extra support for the neck and spine. Stay Active and Strengthen Neck Muscles Regular exercise helps improve posture, balance, and muscle strength, all of which protect the neck. Incorporate exercises that focus on your neck, shoulders, and upper back to create a solid foundation. Gentle neck stretches, shoulder shrugs, and resistance exercises are beneficial and can help stabilize your neck. Strong muscles are less likely to strain, reducing the risk of pain. Car accidents, even minor ones, can have a lasting impact on your body. Often, injuries like whiplash or soft tissue damage don’t show immediate symptoms, but they can lead to chronic pain if left untreated. This is where chiropractic care comes in. Visiting a chiropractor after a car accident can help you recover more fully and avoid long-term complications. At Better Back and Body, our local chiropractic office provides auto injury therapy in the greater Kirkland, WA area. Here are four benefits of chiropractic care following a car accident. Relieve Pain Naturally One of the biggest advantages of chiropractic care is its focus on natural pain relief without the use of medication. Chiropractic care uses manual adjustments, massage, and other non-invasive techniques to address the root causes of pain, such as misaligned joints or damaged soft tissues. These methods help reduce inflammation and promote healing, providing effective pain relief without relying on potentially addictive pain medications. Restore Range of Motion Car accidents often result in stiff joints and decreased mobility, particularly in the neck and back. This stiffness can hinder your day-to-day activities and slow down your overall recovery. Chiropractic adjustments help realign the spine and restore normal range of motion to affected joints. With improved mobility, you’ll be able to resume your regular activities more quickly, which is essential for a full recovery. Prevent Long-Term Issues Injuries like whiplash, muscle sprains, and spinal misalignments can lead to long-term conditions if not properly treated. Seeing a chiropractor after a car accident helps address these injuries early on, preventing them from turning into lasting problems. Chiropractic care promotes faster healing by ensuring your body is properly aligned, which helps avoid complications like chronic back pain, headaches, or stiffness. Reduce Inflammation Even low-impact car accidents can cause micro-tears in muscles and ligaments, leading to inflammation. Inflammation can contribute to pain and prolong the healing process. Chiropractic adjustments help reduce inflammation by restoring proper alignment to the spine and improving blood circulation. With less inflammation, your body can experience less discomfort during recovery. Neck pain is a widespread issue that affects millions of people around the world. It can range from a mild, nagging discomfort to severe, debilitating pain. Understanding the common causes of neck pain can help you take steps to prevent it and seek appropriate treatment when necessary. At Better Back and Body, our local chiropractor’s office has extensive experience with treating neck pain in Kirkland, WA. Here are five common causes of neck pain. Poor Posture One of the most common causes of neck pain is poor posture, especially in today’s world where many people spend long hours sitting at a desk or looking down at their phones. When you slouch or hunch over, it puts extra strain on the muscles and ligaments in your neck. This can lead to chronic neck pain and discomfort. Maintaining good posture, with your back straight and shoulders back, can help alleviate and prevent neck pain. Muscle Strain Muscle strain occurs when the muscles in the neck are overstretched or torn. This can happen from sudden movements or lifting heavy objects. Repeated activities, such as holding your phone between your ear and shoulder, can also increase the risk of strains. Herniated Disc A herniated disc in the cervical spine can cause significant neck pain. Discs are the cushions between the vertebrae in your spine, and when one of them slips out of place or ruptures, it can press on the nerves in your neck, leading to pain in the neck/shoulder region. Osteoarthritis Osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition that occurs when the cartilage between your vertebrae wears down. This can result in pain, stiffness, and decreased range of motion. Osteoarthritis is more common in older adults and can be managed with therapy, medications, and lifestyle changes to reduce the strain on your neck. Whiplash Whiplash is a neck injury that occurs when the head is suddenly and forcefully thrown backward and then forward, such as in a car accident. This motion can damage the soft tissues in the neck. Symptoms of whiplash include neck pain and stiffness, as well as headaches.
